A European Union tender has been opened for secondary schools for collecting audiovisual recollections of the post-1945 period. Applications are expected from any secondary educational institution willing to involve students and take part in shaping a new methodology to teach history, unprecedented in Europe.

What is EU funding available for?

The goal of the project is to get students to create oral histories under teacher guidance by taping interviews with elder family members and senior citizens. Such an activity will make the recent history curriculum living and more accessible through personal experience. The program also aims at training the teachers involved for modern professional methods by using the IT tools acquired in the project, thus contributing to the improvement of the methodology to teach history in secondary schools.

Who can apply?

In the design framework, vocational schools, secondary schools, secondary vocational schools, unified or comprehensive schools, jointly managed public schools, and community centres may submit applications, provided they have technical, grammar, or vocational institutional units.

What is the amount of funding available?

At the beginning of the application procedure, the amount allocated for funding is HUF 650 million. The tender grant amount offered may fall between HUF 5 million and 15 million. The amount of the funding equals to 100% of the project's eligible costs. The tender is automatic, that is, those applications meeting the acceptance and eligibility criteria shall receive funding until the amount available is exhausted.
